Oscars 2013 Best Dressed

It is one of the biggest and glitziest events in show business calender and yesterday Hollywood's finest came together for one of the most glamorous nights of the year - The 85th annual Academy Awards or the Oscars! And like every year, the Oscars didn't disappoint. From Anne Hathaway's nipple fiasco (which btw has its own twitter handle now!) to H&M on the red carpet -last night's ceremony sure had a lot of news making moments!

As for the red carpet looks, vintage Hollywood glamour with strapless shoulders, full skirts and retro hairdo's reigned supreme. We also seen a lot of embellishments and metallics as well as bold lip colors.

Here are my picks of the Best Dressed at last nights event:

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior - The Oscar winner looked ethereal in this drop-waisted Dior haute couture gown and Chopard jewelry. An obvious choice, considering she is the face of the fashion house's Miss Dior campaign. Jennifer wore her 74-carat Chopard necklace down her back, which I'm sure will be a huge trend now.

Sally Field in Valentino - Sally Field looked glam and elegant in this vibrant red Valentino long sleeve gown and tousled updo. She radiates charm and class in this pleated, sheer gown.

Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen - Amanda was glamorous perfection in this lilac organza embroidered McQueen gown with a train and key hole neckline. The color is a little dull though!

Charlize Theron in Dior - Charlize looked classy and regal in this white peplum Dior haute couture gown which she accessorized with Harry Winston jewelry. There are few women who can pull off a shorter hairdo, and Charlize is one of them.

Jenna Dewan in Rachel Roy - Glowing Jenna dressed her cute baby bump in this black floor length backless lace gown. She looked incredible!

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino - Though many didn't like her look and though it was boring. I think she looks amazing. And I'm not saying this just because I'm a big fan of hers! The vibrant red looks gorgeous on her! Accessorized with that megawatt smile, Jennifer looks stunning!

Halle Berry in Versace - Halle Berry looked every inch of a Bond girl in this black and silver long sleeved Versace gown that featured bold stripes and structured shoulder pads. Loved this dress!

Adele in Jenny Packham - Adele is proof that you don't need to be a size 0 to look stunning. The Oscar winner looked breathtaking in a beaded black tulle Jenny Packham floor length gown with sheer sleeves. Loved her half up half down hairstyle.

Stacy Kiebler in Naeem Khan - The silver studded Naeem Khan gown with racerback neckline and sheer back detailing was an absolute stunner. Not only was the dress perfect, but her hair and makeup were flawless too. For once, all eyes were on Stacy rather than her date!

Jane Fonda in Versace - Who'd say this woman is 75? Jane Fonda wowed in this banana yellow Versace dress with a cutout back design.

Jennifer Garner in Gucci - Jennifer looked immaculate in this stapless amethyst silk gown with ruffles at the back. The dress was custom made for her by Gucci.

Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab - Sandra looked elegant in a embellished black and silver Elie Saab Spring 2013 couture gown which accentuated her perfect figure.

The Best Oscar Dresses of All Time

It comes once a year and since the first ceremony in 1929, The Oscars have served as Hollywood's - and fashion's biggest night out. You can say designer dresses and the Academy Awards belong together. Of course all are curious to know who will win, but the bigger question on everyone's mind is : WHO WILL WEAR WHAT?

So in honor of the famous awards ceremony which will take place shortly, I listed some of my picks of the best Oscar dresses from the past.

Hilary Swank in Guy Laroche, 2005 - The actress won an Oscar that year for her role in 'Million Dollar Baby' and this backless, long sleeved navy blue Laroche dress made her look like one! It went on to become one the most iconic Oscar dresses of all time.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford, 2012 - Gwyneth looked sophisticated and chic in this Tom Ford White Cape dress at the ceremony last year.

Audrey Hepburn in Hubert de Givenchy, 1954 - This white floral Givenchy creation was a perfect for Hepburn as it was both girlish and elegant at the same time, just like her.

Kate Winslet in Ben di Lisi, 2002 - The Titanic actress looked exquisite in this red gown with an intricate, delicate floral accent across one shoulder. Loved the color, loved the design!

Keira Knightly in Vera Wang, 2006 - Keira stole the show with this custome made plum taffeta gown which she accessorized with a Bulagari necklace. With its classic full fishtail design and twisted one shoulder strap, this gown was a stunner. The lovely plum shade was a cherry on the top.

Katherine Heigl in Escada, 2008 - Back in 2008, Katherine Heigl was bang on trend with this red custom made Escada one shouldered column dress. Red and One shoulder were the key trends that night. Not only was her dress perfect, but her hair and make up were flawless as well.

Beyonce in Atelier Versace, 2005 - Classic and simple! Beyonce looked stunning in this luscious black velvet vintage gown.

Marilyn Monroe, 1951 - She could wear rucksack and look gorgeous in it! Back in 1951, Marilyn wore this black tulle dress from the 20th Century Fox wardrobe department for the 23rd annual Academy Awards. How beautiful does she look?

Michelle Williams in Vera Wang, 2006 - Michelle Williams caused jaws to drop when she wore this stunning marigold design from Vera Wang. The bold, sunny shade of this silk-chiffon dress teamed with red lips catapulted her to the status of a fashion icon. The dress is considered as one of the best in Oscar red carpet history.

Angelina Jolie in Ellie Saab, 2009 - Angelina looked elegant in this black Ellie Saab gown which she accessorized with emerald Lorraine Schwartz earrings. I feel it was one of her best red carpet looks so far.

Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta, 2010 - Cameron dazzled in this crystal studded nude Oscar de la Renta creation. She accessorized the dress with Cartier diamonds. With that red pout and side swept lose locks, she was an epitome of Hollywood glamour.

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino, 2009 - One of my all time favorite actresses, Jennifer sizzled in this beautiful gold embroidered strapless gown. Like always, effortlessly gorgeous.

Jennifer Lopez in Marchesa, 2007 - How cute does J.LO look in this crystal strung Marchesa custom gown? I especially love jeweled neckline of this dress. Along with those soft retro curls, she looked like a complete princess.

Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga, 2007 - This red Balenciaga gown along with the simple make up and minimal accessories makes Nicole look elegant and sophisticated.

Anne Hathway in Armani Prive, 2009 - The Devil Wears Prada actress proved her fashion credentials as she shimmered in this glittery, perfectly fitted Armani Prive gown.

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad, 2012 - Jennifer looked every inch of a diva in this shimmering, sheer oyster gown which hugged her curvy figure to perfection.

Reese Witherspoon in Armani Prive, 2011 - Reese looked 60's chic in this classic black and white Giorgio Armani Prive evening gown which she accessorized with Neil Lane jewelry and Roger Vivier heels. The strapless black column dress with white silk band at the neckline oozed elegance.

Here's hoping that quite a lot of dresses from this years ceremony can be added to this list...

Which are your all time favorite Oscar dresses?
